Music class in 4th and 5th grade is focused on strengthening concepts of rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and music theory through singing, moving, and playing various instruments. Many of your children wish to go above and beyond, and for those students, I would like to invite them to participate in “The Harmonic Hawks,” an extracurricular 4th and 5th grade chorus opportunity. Rehearsals will take place before school on Fridays from 7:15-8:05 a.m. in the JRES music room. We will spend this time advancing upon our vocal and musical skills (while also just plain having FUN)!

The Harmonic Hawks will have two sessions. The first session will take place from October – February. The second will take place from March – May. Students may participate in one or both sessions, and each will have at least one performance opportunity. Should your child participate in session 1, he/she will have the opportunity to perform on the Eccles Center stage in February for “Voice O’Rama,” PCSD’s All District Choir Concert. The concert will showcase choirs from across the district and feature a combined choir finale.

As many of your students have shown a lot of musical interest and/or skill, I do hope that you and your child heavily consider this fun opportunity!
